Drop 004 回到 Datura,但這次不是三個產地,而是三支秘魯 Cusco Incahuasi Valley 的 SL9 水洗。咖啡已經寄出,預計很快抵達台北。

SL9 對許多人來說像是新品種,但它其實並不新。Loïc 在 Datura 的介紹中提到,這支咖啡在秘魯多年來被稱作「印加藝妓」,原因是它有強烈花香、清晰度與優雅的杯中結構,讓人自然聯想到藝妓。但近年多次基因分析顯示,SL9 與藝妓沒有明顯親緣關係,而更可能接近稀有的肯亞 SL-09 譜系。這讓它不只是「像藝妓的秘魯咖啡」,而是一支在安地斯高地重新被看見的少見品種。

這次三支分別來自 Eucalipto Pata、Pinoyqu、Bella Vista,海拔從 2,170m 到 2,230m。Datura 這次也同步釋出一支由巴拿馬種子長成的真正藝妓,適合並列理解 SL9 與 Gesha 的差異;Lightmist 也會保留 Achirayuc Gesha 作內部比較。公開數量非常有限。

Drop 004 returns to Datura, but instead of three origins, this is a focused set: three washed SL9 lots from Peru's Cusco highlands in the Incahuasi Valley. The coffees have shipped and should land in Taipei soon.

SL9 may feel new to many drinkers, but it is not new at all. As Datura's Loïc Perneau explains, this coffee was known in Peru for years as Inca Gesha because of its floral intensity, clarity, and elegant cup structure. Several genetic analyses have since changed that story: SL9 has no meaningful genetic relation to Gesha, and appears closer to the rare Kenyan SL-09 lineage. That makes this less a "Peruvian Gesha-like coffee" and more a rare variety being rediscovered in the Andes.

The three lots come from Eucalipto Pata, Pinoyqu, and Bella Vista, ranging from 2,170m to 2,230m. Datura also released a true Gesha grown from seeds directly originating from Panama, which makes the side-by-side question especially useful: what does SL9 share with Gesha, and where does it become its own thing? Lightmist is also keeping the Achirayuc Gesha for internal comparison. Public quantities are very limited.
